Raid Tanja Langouira: a unique opportunity to get to know the south of Morocco – Atalayar | Gmx Pharm

The Raid Tanja Lagouira is a sporting event open to anyone who has a 4×4 vehicle and wants to take part in the adventure that begins next November. There are no other requirements. It’s a fast-paced adventure that welcomes both experienced competitors and beginners alike, traversing Morocco from north to south. “It’s not a speed race, it’s a voyage of discovery, the main objective of which is to get there safely,” according to the organizers.

This year is the 14th edition of the event, which will include 13 stages. A total of almost 6,000 kilometers are covered. According to Omar El Alaoui Balrhiti, vice president of the Regional Tourism Council of the Rio de Oro-La Güera region and founding president of the NORD SUD ACTION Association, the vocation of the rally goes beyond the purely sporting aspect and includes Promoting solidarity, discovery and investment in the Maghreb country.

The event is a great opportunity to get get to know firsthand the southern provinces of Morocco, exploring their landscapes, admiring their deserts and beaches and visiting their cities. Many activities are planned. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to find out about investment and development opportunities in this thriving region.

“Since the first editions we have always had participants from abroad, especially from Spain”, El Alaoui said to Atalayar El Alaoui. For this reason, for European participants the race starts on November 1st in Madrid. Participants are scheduled to meet in the early hours to begin a hectic journey that will end 13 days later in the city of Agadir, one of the North African country’s most distinctive coastal enclaves. During this time, the participants traveled Morocco from north to south, absorbing all the nuances and participating in all kinds of activities.

Participants can take part in numerous activities along the route. You can enjoy the landscapes, roads, dunes, paradisiacal beaches and oases of the Moroccan Sahara and discover in depth the provinces of southern Morocco and the investment potential of the Dakhla region. During the stages, participants can practice sports such as kite surfing, sailing, canoeing and kayaking. You can also go fishing and diving. There are even raffles and great prizes, and you can walk along the small sandy paths by the sea, including a hike along the legendary White Dune.

But perhaps the main activity of the trip is to support humanitarian and social causes. Among a long list of initiatives, the organization highlights the possibility of “contributing to the construction of this new Morocco, helping the local population through charities, distributing clothes or setting up commercial activities in favor of people with reduced mobility”.

The organizer of the raid is NORD SUD ACTION (Moroccan Association for Communication, Socio-Economic Development and Investment Incentives), a non-profit organization founded in 2011 with the aim of promoting the economic development of the Dakhla region and “Building bridges between the supporters of the north and their counterparts in the south”.

The official partners are the city and region of Dakhla and the region of Laayoune. The sponsors of the rally included the OCP Group, the Moroccan state-owned company involved in the production of phosphates, fertilizers, chemicals and minerals; the Banque Populaire, Morocco’s leading financial institution; Maroc Telecom, Morocco’s leading telecommunications company; and the Office National des Aéroports (ONDA), the operator and manager of flights in the Kingdom of Alawites.

“The Raid Tanja Lagouira, the largest 100% Moroccan humanitarian and discovery raid, was born from the will of the members of the NORD SUD ACTION Association with the aim of promoting Morocco as a tourist destination for foreigners and making the Moroccan Sahara destination known to Moroccans to do,” El Alaoui told Atalayar. “Since its first editions, it has brought together more than 910 participants (Moroccans and foreigners) and more than 325 4×4 vehicles that have covered more than 78,000 kilometers.”.
