Paul Menta and his wife Crystal, of Key West, Fla., are expected to be on hand to culminate a fundraiser for local schools in the northernmost and southernmost communities of the contiguous United States, united by their buoys.
  • 16-18 September: Wild Outdoor Women Weekend Outdoor Learning Event, Lake Metigoshe State Park, ND Primarily for women ages 16+, WOW offers an opportunity to learn and improve a wide range of outdoor recreation skills including Canoeing, Kayaking, Archery, Dutch Oven Cooking, Yoga , guided mountain biking, fly fishing and more.

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is continuing its series of webinars on hunting, fishing and outdoor learning this summer. Free webinars begin at noon on Wednesdays and pre-registration is required at mndnr.gov. Webinars are also recorded and available online. Upcoming webinars are as follows:

  • 3rd August: New Deer Hunting Regulations: Todd Froberg, Big Game Program Coordinator, will provide updates on deer hunting regulations, population numbers and new CWD areas.
  • August 10th: Hunters as Citizen Scientists. Learn about two science-based surveys in which hunters contribute data needed to monitor deer and turkey populations over time.
  • August 17: Clay target shooting for beginners. Sheri Brengman, Steering Committee Member and Volunteer Steering Committee Instructor for the DNR’s Becoming an Outdoors Woman program, will discuss the basics of trap shooting and other clay target games.
  • August 24: Early goose season. Dave Trauba, DNR Wildlife Manager, will discuss early season hunting opportunities for geese and provide tips on how and where to target the birds.
  • August 31: Hunting ammo options and tips. Kraig Kiger, DNR Shooting Sports Coordinator, will talk about hunting ammo and options for different game species, lead alternatives and other tips to consider when buying ammo.
